1. Greetings
Welcome to the May edition of i-news.
This month has been another action packed one at Imagine, with several major
projects going live.
We are pleased summer is definately on its way so we can get outside for some exercise in the sunshine after the long days we spend parked on our backsides! The very popular garden at the Crown Inn is coming into bloom so you may find some of the team working remotely on hot summer days.

2. Galaxy® Guy
www.drinkgalaxy.com is our latest website to go-live created for the Mars Corporation. Aimed quite clearly at the ladies, the site has a popular set of sections including some luxurious desktop pictures and a dreamy screensaver. The highlight of the site is the ground breaking application
"Galaxy® Guy".
We integrated a number of technologies to enable visitors to design and build their perfect man. A series of targeted questions determines the personality of each Galaxy® Guy before the application creates the unique man 'on-the-fly'. Once downloaded, users can interact with him, but be careful, treat
him badly and he could turn into the boyfriend from hell.
3. Key Stats
Have you discovered Instant Messaging (IM) yet? It is a communication tool that allows you to view a list of your colleagues and friends that are connected to the Internet and, if they are, to exchange messages with them. It differs from email in that messages are transmitted immediately, similar to communicating over a two-way radio. IM was popularised by AOL, but three other systems compete in this growth market: MSN Messenger, Yahoo Messenger and ICQ. The majority of use remains from people using the services at home but business use is growing and by 2004, IM will be used by over 180 million users at work and an estimated two trillion messages (that's 18 noughts) will be sent globally by both consumers and business users. IM systems are easy to set up, can scale up quickly, and are the perfect lightweight collaboration tool. With the imminent implementation of a standard protocol allowing communication between any of the major systems, you will be seeing a lot more of IM.
4. Mums on the web
Aren't Mums great, they can make chocolate cakes and put plasters
on better that anyone else, but is their knowledge of pre-hypertext
processing and blowfish data encryption up to scratch? Possibly
not, but according to figures recently released from Microsoft,
they are the fastest growing specialist community on the web. Apparently
more than 9 million women have gone online for the first time in
the last six months. Although more men have purchased goods online, women are more likely to seek health and spiritual information and research about new jobs. Women also take advantage of resources such as online greeting cards and many use Instant Messaging (IM) software, which cuts
petrol and telephone bills and leaves more time for the cakes and
plasters. Click here for more information.
5. Useful Sites - Language Translation
One
of the greatest things about the Internet is its global reach. People from all over the world can talk to each other as if
they were next door. Unfortunately, the average English persons grasp
of Portuguese is less than perfect, which is where Babelfish
comes in. Babelfish is a free service which brings together the
best of the web's free language translation services. Click the links
below to translate this newsletter into various exotic foreign tongues
or click here
to visit the site.
6. Top CEO's
Never mind the shake out in world technology stock markets, 11 of the top 15 CEO's remain in the TMT (Technology, Media and Telecoms) sectors. Worth have released their 2001 list of the best 50 Chief Executive Officers
in the world. The list is based on a CEO's ability to deliver long-term shareholder value over the last five or ten years and the expected achievement of CEO's poised to deliver long-term shareholder value. The nominations were collected from leading fund managers and securities analysts and thoroughly vetted by a team of Worth reporters. Worth's editors made the final picks.

7. Website of the Month
Everybody has heard of Arachnophobia, but how about Arachibutyrophobia
(the fear of peanut butter sticking to roof of your mouth) or Sesquipedalophobia
(the ironic fear of long words). Phobialist.com has a massive list
of phobias. The website offers advice on overcoming phobias and links
to organisations which specialise in treatment. Just feel sorry for
Sciaphobics, they are afraid of their own shadows.
